Matsushima, Miyagi

Out of Three Great Views of Japan, this is my favorite. It is good for a day trip from Tokyo, especially if you have the JR pass. JR has a limited time offer for a day trip a round trip to Matsushima area from Tokyo around 16,000 yen. (as of October 2008)

Things to do in Matsushima
1. Ferry Boat Ride
2. Oysters - on the weekends, you will find bbq oysters everywhere in town.
3. If you have time, stay at one of nice ryokan to view the sun rise
4. Stop at a great Sake Shop, Mutoya, who carries only Miyagi sake. It is delightful to visit them.
